Test first, then the right system
By Luke Buelow, plumber and handyman at Good Life Home Co..
Most filtration sales start with the equipment. Ours starts with your water. The right system depends on what is in your water, so we measure before we recommend.
Step 1 is the $49 Home Water Health Review. We measure, inspect, and explain. Measurements cover hardness, free and total chlorine, pH, TDS / conductivity, temperature, and water pressure. The inspection covers pressure regulation, expansion protection, water heating, and existing treatment. A field review is not a laboratory test. Lead, PFAS, pesticides, and microbiological questions need lab analysis.
Step 2 is that explanation. We tell you what we found and your options, including doing nothing. Findings are saved to your Water Health Review.
Step 3 happens only if a whole-home system fits. We recommend one and price the install before work starts.
No obligation to purchase filtration or other equipment.
A whole-home filtration system treats the water where it enters the house, so every tap gets the same water. It is installed on the main water line. An under-sink system treats only the kitchen tap.
Homeowners ask about a chlorine taste or smell, hard water spots and scale, a taste or smell, or they are not sure. The review tells us what the water has; the system is chosen for that.
Water purification and water treatment
Water purification and water treatment are other names for this same visit: measure the water, then install a water filtration system that matches those readings. City water and well water are different starting points.
The three systems we install: Diamond, Silver, and Titanium
We install Honest Water Filter systems, made in the USA (per Honest Water Filter). Honest Water Filter describes itself as veteran-owned. Which one fits depends on what the $49 review finds. Diamond and Silver are whole-house systems. Titanium is the kitchen-tap option and can sit alongside a whole-house system.
The details below are Honest Water Filter's descriptions. NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI 53 are listed on the company's certifications page.
Per Honest Water Filter, except the best-fit row, which is how we describe the match after the review.
For use on municipal water only. Not recommended for wells.

Filtered drinking and cooking water at the kitchen sink; pairs with a whole-house system
Honest Water Filter says it offers a lifetime guarantee on the heads and manifolds, and a 1-year performance guarantee on the cartridges. That is the manufacturer's coverage. Our 3 Year Workmanship Guarantee covers the installation. Materials follow manufacturer coverage.
Looking for a water softener? Salt-free hard water treatment
Many homeowners searching for a water softener want less scale on fixtures, glasses, and the water heater. The systems we install handle hard water a different way: salt-free.
Honest Water Filter says its polyphosphates are food-grade and FDA-approved and "treat and sequester hard water minerals such as calcium and magnesium." The company describes them as a hard water solution and a scale inhibitor. There is no salt to add. Honest Water Filter says the Silver system does not require electricity or a drain, and that it mounts on the wall.
A salt-free system is not a salt-based ion-exchange softener. It is a salt-free alternative to a softener. Honest Water Filter recommends polyphosphates for water up to 20 grains per gallon of hardness, so the review measures hardness first. We will show you that reading and explain whether salt-free hard water treatment fits.
Water filtration installation: what the visit covers
We confirm the location, shut the water off, and install the system with shutoff and bypass valves so it can be serviced. Whole-house systems go on the main line, typically near where the water enters. Titanium goes under the kitchen sink, on the cold feed to the faucet. We check pressure and leaks, then show you how it works and when cartridges need changing.
The same visit looks at pressure regulation, expansion protection, and water heating. Heater work itself stays on water heater repair.
Already have a filtration or softener system?
The $49 review includes a look at existing treatment, and we'll tell you what we find. That is a look and an explanation. It is not a promise to repair or service equipment we did not install.
On municipal water, the review does not label city water as safe or unsafe. It measures conditions at your home. City compliance testing and the water at your tap are different questions. You can look up your water utility and its latest water quality report before we visit.
On a private well, the field review can document selected water and plumbing conditions, but it is not a comprehensive well-water safety analysis. Well water may need laboratory testing first.
Honest Water Filter describes Diamond for municipal water, or for wells with a certified well report and an Honest Water Filter consultation. Silver is described for municipal water. Titanium is for use on municipal water only and is not recommended for wells. If the house is on a well, we say what the review can show before anyone recommends equipment.

Do you install whole-home water filtration systems?+
Yes. Good Life Home Co. installs Honest Water Filter systems in Fort Collins, Windsor, and Loveland: Diamond and Silver for the whole house and Titanium under the kitchen sink. We start with a $49 Home Water Health Review so the system fits your water, and we price the install before work starts.
Why test the water before buying a filtration system?+
Because the right system depends on what is in your water. The $49 review measures hardness, chlorine, pH, TDS, temperature, and water pressure and looks at your plumbing. Then we explain your options, including doing nothing.
Do I have to buy a system after the $49 review?+
No. There is no obligation to purchase filtration or other equipment. If treatment makes sense, we explain an appropriate option. If not, we tell you that.
Is the $49 review a lab test?+
No. It uses professional field-testing equipment plus a look at your plumbing. Questions about lead, PFAS, pesticides, microbiological safety, and other advanced contaminants need laboratory analysis.
Do you install water softeners?+
We install salt-free hard water treatment instead of salt-based softeners. Honest Water Filter's polyphosphate option treats and sequesters hard water minerals to help control scale, with no salt to add. The $49 review measures your hardness first so we can tell you whether it fits.
What's the difference between Diamond, Silver, and Titanium?+
Diamond and Silver are whole-house systems on the main water line; Titanium is an under-sink system for drinking and cooking water at the kitchen faucet. Silver focuses on chlorine, taste, and odor with optional salt-free scale control; Diamond adds Honest Water Filter's finest ultra-filtration stage. We'll recommend one after the review.
I have a filtration or softener system already. Can you look at it?+
Yes. The $49 review includes a look at existing treatment, and we'll explain what we find.
What about well water?+
The review can document selected water and plumbing conditions on a private well, but it is not a comprehensive well-water safety analysis. Private wells may need laboratory testing first.
Who does the installation?+
Good Life Home Co., a family plumbing company with a licensed Colorado master plumber. Installs carry our 3 Year Workmanship Guarantee; the equipment follows Honest Water Filter's own warranty.
